End up the year with great news about your health - you are NOT a victim of your genes.
Many of our clients come to us with the belief that how they look and what diseases they end up getting are predetermined. "I have a body just like Aunt Bessie," one will say. Or, "Heart disease runs in my family."
Dr. Lipton, who has taught in medical schools and leads what's called the New Biology, wants to tell you that how you think and the environment you live in has more to do with the quality of your health than anything you assume you may have inherited. In other words, if you eat or sit around the house like Aunt Bessie, those factors alone will probably have more to do with how you end up looking or whether you get heart disease than any genetic predisposition in 95% of people.
The Top 10 Total Fitness Principles On How Your Beliefs Affect Your Biology.
Here are a few important points for you to think about:
1. The concept of hereditary diseases is just that...a concept and has never been proven by scientists. Don't become a victim of hereditary disease theory. If you believe it, you will be responsible for creating it.
2. Your genes are not set in stone because you control them, they do not control you and you can change whether they express themselves as health or disease.
3. Signals from your environment communicate with your cells and actually affect your genes and your health.
4. If you choose to surround yourself with positive environmental influences, like happiness in your work and relationships and a loving home, you can create a strong healthy body. If you live in fear, you'll create the opposite.
5. So you can respond to your environment, adapt and survive, your cells contain genes that overwrite defective genes damaged by environmental signals such as fear. Why survive when you can thrive?
6. 95 per cent of most disease is not hereditary, it is created by your perceptions and how you perceive what is going on in the world around you.
7. Love is the best growth promoting signal you could receive from your environment, and exceeds nutrition.
8. If you subject yourself to repeated daily doses of negativity by watching television and reading newspapers and magazines, these will create negative thoughts and pump negative views of the world into your subconscious mind. This will create your beliefs and change how your genes express themselves, and affect your health.
9. Your adrenals are your body's internal stress protectors, while your immune system is how your body protects itself from external stresses. If you think it's important to take care of your immune system, but not your adrenals, think again.
10. Who you are is shaped by the way you see your world. Do you see a world of opportunity, or a world of suffering? If your glass is always half empty, go get a top up!
